A functional micro-needle sensor for voltammetric determination of iron in coastal waters

A novel micro-needle sensor based on gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) immobilized with conducting polymer film poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT-PSS) was fabricated for determination of iron in coastal waters. The unique aciform structure the electrode (MNE) provided larger specific surface area than common electrodes. modification MNE PEDOT-PSS improved conductivity and increased active sites combination immobilization AuNCs. cluster-like AuNCs formed as a result regulation PEDOT-PSS, which showed excellent electrocatalytic activity reduction Fe3+. so-fabricated AuNCs/PEDOT-PSS/MNE sensitivity, selectivity, reproducibility, repeatability linear range 0.01–5 ?M detection limit 3.1 nM, respectively. Furthermore, successfully used acidified dissolved river from source to estuary satisfactory results.
